Exploring Vivocity

(latest updates on 6 Nov) What's the FIRST thing in your face when you exit from the MRT at HarbourFront?
Candy Empire and a sign that says "No wheelchairs allowed". I am NEVER going to patronise a store that is so blatantly prejudiced and discriminatory! And I hope that none of my friends would too! Shame on them! And what was their excuse? Our furniture was not made for the hard knocks from wheelchairs. COME ON...! 'nuff said. Move on. Wipe Candy Empire from your minds.

It was a Saturday and the crowds were out in full force. Wonder if Suntec City was nice and quiet... The escalators were running at full speed, swallowing up the people and spitting them out on various floors. We almost had to run off when we reached the top of the floors! That's why the top photo is so blur ;-)

The place was so packed with human traffic that one has no time to stop and admire the nice architectural details added to the building. The lines were fluid and colours vivid. We liked the open space on the first floor but the narrow balcony walkways on the 2nd floor could get quite inconvenient because you can't just hop over to the other stores on the opposite sides. And we kept having to dodge other shoppers.

The usual shops were there but there were some new names too, like GAP, Ted Baker, Pull & Bear, Club Marc.. Mag was so excited when she found an ENTIRE section of clothes for Petites in Principles! Local favourites like Tangs, Giordano, HangTen, Dorothy Perkins, Guardian are all there too, although we found that Giant is still not as well stocked as Carrefour or Cold Storage, and for a new supermarket that just opened, it STANK badly of stale fish and meat! Yuck!

The playground was integrated into the shopping area on the second floor. Kids were having fun on the interesting slides, and see-saws and water spouts. Almost made us wish we were kids again so that we could play!

On the 3rd floor there is an amphitheatre and a rooftop play pool where people could wade in and wet their ankles.

There are interesting art pieces scattered around, like the man on a high bar, some colourful figurines, and a thin thin snowman - I guess he melted in our tropical heat.

Oh yes, we also went for an express pedicure! Got nice little flowers painted too, all for $15. We were both wearing shoes that day, so it also gave us a nice excuse to buy new sandals from Charles & Keith. hee..

..and what's shopping without eating? The place is FULL of food outlets. BOTH Kopitiam and Banquet foodcourts are there! There are plenty of restaurants to choose from. We had our coffee break at Glora Jean's. No comments on the service. All I can say is they need to buck up on their service and listen to special requests carefully!
We had a chocolate mudpie cake and coffee. I decided to order a Macadamia Coffee Latte because the picture showed a nice leaf art decoration on the foam (something like the picture on the left) but that wasn't what I got when it was served and it was so sweeeeet! >.<
For dinner, we went back to good ol' Cedele Bakery Depot.

A refreshing facelift! And the pictures appear bigger. I want to change my blog too!
