Sbey Sbey and Creperie des Arts

Well.. since I've been home on MC for the past week, what better time to try out the eateries that are so close yet so far because we spend all our time at work (our second home), right?!

At our doorstep, we found a small humble Thai restaurant called Sbey Sbey (doesn't sound very nice in hokkien.. hehe...). It isn't a 5-star poshy place but you can tell it's authentic by the Thai people who serve and cook here.

The first time we ate here, Mag's hand was still bandaged and she had to struggle to eat with her left hand.

The second time we came, I was on MC but luckily I still had the use of both hands!

The Dou Miao fried with garlic was fresh and not overdone. Green and crisp, the way I like it!

We had the Beef Green Curry which was very thick and creamy (yummm....)

The Chicken Tom Yam soup was super sour (no photo) and I believe it was the cause of my slightly upset tummy the next day!

On our second visit, we decided to order different dishes, all yummy of course. The best part about this restaurant is that they serve you ice cold water without you asking!

Chicken stew with dried curry gravy and coconut milk.

The Mango Salad came with raw long beans and cabbage. A bit odd for us but it went well with the salad.

Pad Thai - so delicious that we classified it in the same category as Char Kway Teow and decided that we shouldn't eat it too often!

The bill for each visit did not exceed $20 for both of us. VERY reasonable! Everyone must try!! :D

Another gem of a find is Crêperie des Arts at Prinsep Place which serves savoury and dessert crepes.

We ordered a Spinach and mushroom crepe which wasn't too creamy thankfully! The buckwheat crepe was slightly crispy around the sides and very light.

The Beef, onions and fresh tomato sauce filling on buckwheat crepe was so yummy I wish I could order another one! Mag had to hold me back of course!

Don't forget to order a cup (or a bottle) of traditional French apple cider! Sipping the sweet 2% alcohol cup of cider, we could almost imagine ourselves sitting in a cafe in Paris as we glanced at the wrought iron railings and looked up into the cool night sky. LOL..

Too bad we only had space for one dessert crepe.
Banana with Grand Marnier and chocolate sauce, chocolate ice cream and orange.. heaven....!!

The bill - over $70 for 2 of us. Gulp! But I'll be back!
