Mellben Seafood @Toa Payoh

ATTENTION!!! For all y'all crab lovers out there - Mellben Seafood (of the AMK crab bee hoon fame) has opened a new branch in good 'ol TOA PAYOH!!


Sunday, 14 Oct 2007 - I was hoping it wouldn't be as crowded as the AMK branch but the place was BUZZING with satisfied diners! We had to join a queue. sigh... At least an hour's wait, we were told. What to do? We were committed and took our seat and just gawked at the food that sped past.

The service staff were fast and efficient, sometimes even running with the food to the waiting tables!

At exactly 55 mins (wow.. 5 mins early) from the time we ordered, our Guiness Ribs and Fried small kailan arrived! Not sure if it was because we were starving by then but both dishes tasted fantastic! Why can't we get kailan to taste that way at home? It's the wok-hei, my dad proclaimed!


We attacked the ribs and vege with ferver and finished them in no time... the minutes ticked by as we waited again, this time for the main event.....

CRAB BEE HOON!! Yummmmsss!! Heck the cholesterol, tonight I'm going to swallow all the roe and buttery layer of oil! LOL... Yup! It's good but I kind of remember the AMK one tasting a tad better.. different brand of butter perhaps?? Time to head back there for a comparison!
