Waraku @ The Central

Ever since The Central opened I've wanted to bring dad there. Plus, I also wanted to try the Waraku branch. That place, like all the other popular Jap restaurants at Central, fills up quickly with long queues, so we made our way there early. REALLY early - 5:30pm early! Even so, the restaurant was already 90% filled!

The view from the restaurant is lovely - it overlooks the river and Clarke Quay on the opposite side. If you can, try and get a table by the window.

I love the Beef Houba Yaki - you cook your own beef which is sitting on a bed of miso spread over a big leaf. Don't be surprised... the leaf won't burn!! We also had the Cod Fish (Gindara Houba Yaki) which was also a hit, and Gindara Kaminabe - my dad had a whale of a time with the name. He's so evil, he even wanted to ask the waitress what that dish is just to hear her say it! :|

We also had Ebi Tempura which dad insisted on having because it looked so good when it was served to a nearby table. And yes, it was good. The HUGE prawns were so wonderfully crispy! (and sinful.. but so worth the sin!!)

Other sides dishes we ordered were Agadeshi Tofu, Waraku Maki, Soft shell crab, Tofu salad, and a small plate of salmon sashimi for me! No one else dared to eat raw fish.

There weren't too many varieties of desserts, which was good as we were already quite stuffed. We ordered the Raspberry Ice Cream Cake and Shiratama Macha Monaka Ice Cream and wiped the plates clean anyway!!

After dinner we walked out and was greeted by hoards of people waiting outside the restaurant. There were queues at Ma Maison and Ramen Marutama as well.

Now I wanna try that rude-sounding dish and the desserts! Haha.
